ERI SOMEYA
I joined Starts Corporation in 2005 and started my career in real estate corporate sales, and was stationed at Starts Hong Kong from 2008 to 2012, where I experienced real estate brokerage, sales and management overseas.
After getting married and having a baby, I founded T&E JAPAN Inc. in 2014 to commercialize my hobby of handmade products.
Currently I am enrolled in the Graduate School of Business Administration, Waseda University (MBA program) with the aim of building a business model based on regional recycling.
“I want to create a warm, creative, and exciting society through the power of manufacturing!”
The loneliness I felt when raising a child for the first time was beyond anything I could have imagined. There was no one to whom I could easily confide my worries, and there was an unspoken atmosphere that child-rearing should be considered separately from work.
In the midst of this reality, which I could not have imagined when I was working, my desire to “connect with others” grew stronger, and I joined volunteer activities. There, she met other mothers in the same situation and was able to share her concerns through their common hobby of “making things.
Through this experience, I met people I could trust with all my heart and formed a bond with them. Through this experience, I strongly felt that “monozukuri” has the power to connect people and support each other.
Since then, I have placed importance on connecting and nurturing “people,” “community,” and “society” to create an environment where each individual can grow by utilizing their skills and ideas, and to create new value and warm circulation by bringing everyone’s strengths together.
The ideas and passions of diverse people bring new possibilities and innovations.
For example, we have realized various initiatives to date, such as creating a system that allows women and seniors raising children to work flexibly, and planning design items that reuse scrap wood.
We believe that these are new values that are created when the skills and creativity of many people deepen their connection with the community and society.
